Water & Wastewater Treatment Operator Location Martinsburg, WV region
** Candidates must reside or be willing to relocate within a daily commutable distance of this area.
Our client, a well-established, family-owned utilities construction company, is seeking an experienced, hardworking, and professional Certified Water & Wastewater Treatment Operator to join their plant operations team in the Berkeley & Jefferson County region. The department assists with the operation and maintenance of approximately 20 plants in this area.
Qualifications:
Holds a minimum of a Class S or higher Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification
OIT or Class I certification in drinking water and/or wastewater operations is a plus
Abilities to troubleshoot, repair and maintain equipment, hydraulic & pneumatic systems, electric & gas motors
Strong background in pumps, plumbing & minor electrical
Familiar with coagulants, flocculants and general wastewater chemistry
Knowledge of pH adjustment and clarification
Knowledge of metal precipitation and media filtration
Must be able to lift/carry 50lbs unassisted; Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, climb and twist continuously throughout the day
Dependable with the ability to work independently, safely, and efficiently
Valid drivers license (MVR will be checked for company insurance policy)
Pre-employment background and drug testing will be required
Responsibilities:
Travel to multiple plants daily to inspect, collect and test water and sewage samples
Complete plant mechanical maintenance on Water and Steam Systems, Pump Houses and ancillary equipment
Use computerized systems to monitor plant processes
Operate treatment plants and apparatus, cleaning screens and filters, adding chemicals, monitoring gas and water levels, taking readings
Abide by strict federal and state laws of water quality
Responsible for all documentation and paperwork per OSHA, ISO, DOT and company standards
Compensation & Scheduled Overview: Hourly rate based on experience
Typically, daytime shifts, but some evenings, weekends and holidays may be required
Overtime hours will be required
