Job Description

Merchandising Procurement Assistant (Remote)

Sharper Image is looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working, and creative person to join our growing company. This is a remote position, offering flexibility to work from home while collaborating with internal teams and vendors across all functional areas to drive success. The Merchandising Assistant will maintain vendor/item databases, setup new item information, and assist the team in building and maintaining strong vendor relationships.

The ideal candidate is web-savvy, detail-oriented, and analytical, with strong communication skills. Proficiency in Excel is essential to success. We are seeking a self-starter who takes ownership of projects and business challenges.

The environment is fast-paced and requires someone who is adaptable, organized, and comfortable working with multiple teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the accurate creation, setup, and ongoing maintenance of vendor and item records within internal databases.
  • Ensure all product details, descriptions, pricing, and categorization are correct before launching items internally and externally.
  • Maintain and update cost change sheets, ensuring accurate records of vendor pricing adjustments and communicating changes to relevant teams.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to verify and maintain data accuracy across platforms.
  • Correspond with vendors as needed on outstanding issues to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Collaborate across teams during the product setup process, ensuring smooth coordination between merchandising, marketing, and inventory.
  • Proof catalogs and digital listings, identifying discrepancies and communicating necessary corrections to appropriate team members.
  • Assist in tracking and resolving item discrepancies related to cost, descriptions, and inventory availability.
  • Complete various administrative tasks and special projects as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • BA/BS Degree preferred
  • Experience in database management preferred
  • No previous retail buying experience necessary

  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and correct errors in product setup and pricing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to frequent changes in priorities and processes
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
