Senior Payroll Manager Needed!

📍 Hybrid (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) | 💼 Full-Time

We are helping a client who is seeking a strategic and detail-driven Senior Payroll Manager to join a dynamic team within a multi-entity organization operating across multiple states. This high-impact role is ideal for a seasoned professional ready to lead payroll operations, drive process improvements, and collaborate cross-functionally with HR, accounting, and leadership.

As the Senior Payroll Manager, you’ll oversee end-to-end payroll for multiple payroll cycles, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage a small but mighty team. This is a key leadership opportunity to bring clarity and consistency to complex payroll and benefits administration processes—all while mentoring a growing team and partnering closely with stakeholders across the organization.

What You’ll Do:

🔹 Lead and manage payroll operations across five entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

🔹 Supervise and support two direct reports (Payroll Manager and Payroll Accountant)

🔹 Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and payroll laws

🔹 Review and approve year-end processes including W-2s, 1099s, and ACA filings

🔹 Oversee benefit and retirement plan administration, including 401(k), 403(b), and long-term incentive plans

🔹 Partner with finance to manage intercompany payroll accounting, forecasting, and reporting

🔹 Identify and implement process improvements; escalate and resolve system issues (Paycom expertise a plus)

🔹 Support audits and compliance reviews with internal and external stakeholders

🔹 Provide leadership-level insights via detailed reporting and data analysis

What We’re Looking For:

✔ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

✔ 8+ years of payroll experience, including at least 3 in a leadership role

✔ Deep knowledge of multi-state payroll operations, particularly in California

✔ Hands-on experience with systems like Paycom, ADP, Paycor, and QuickBooks

✔ Strong grasp of compliance, benefits, and retirement plan administration

✔ Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting

✔ Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) a plus
