Mid - Sr. Wordpress/Shopify Developer 6 Month Contract-to-Hire Position Location: Denver / Hybrid Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 BLKDG is seeking a mid-level or senior Web Developer responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including creating WordPress themes and plugins as well as Shopify themes and apps from scratch. This position requires programming skills (namely PHP, Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript) and an understanding of core design principles required to build beautiful websites. You'll Love This Job if You: Are you someone who can proactively take action when presented with a challenge Enjoy a team oriented environment and collaborative culture Are a highly organized individual and pride yourself on keeping track of small details Are passionate about your area of specialization and have a desire to offer insight on how digital capabilities can be improved upon Strive to display exceptional problem solving skills and organizational skills and can demonstrate high quality work Enjoy working within existing website platforms, while also eager to be building new ones Qualifications: Excellent communication skills for both internal and client-facing communications Time management and prioritization skills to balance long-term innovation with client project needs Architecting and estimation to help break down big projects into manageable tasks that developers less experienced than you can successfully deliver on WordPress plugin and Shopify app authoring to solve customer problems when needed, and ability to discern when using existing solutions is best Mastery of web standards and best practices, particularly the ability to write meaningful, semantic HTML that responds across devices and breakpoints, degrades gracefully, and meets (or exceeds) the latest accessibility guidelines Comfortable with modern development practices and build tools such as GitHub (and GitHub Actions), Webpack, Composer, NPM/Yarn, Laravel Blade, React, etc. Update management best practices across multiple WordPress and Shopify sites Performance optimization through caching and monitoring for both platforms Familiarity with modern website security best practices for WordPress and Shopify Agile experience working with agency teams leveraging Scrum, Kanban or similar methodologies Familiarity with component-driven design practices, Gutenberg, and Shopify's Liquid templating system Responsibilities: Responsible for both back-end and front-end development Create WordPress themes and plugins as well as Shopify themes and apps from scratch Apply programming skills (PHP, Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript) with an understanding of core design principles to build beautiful websites Development/Deployment of enterprise-level WordPress plugins/themes and Shopify apps/themes Collaborate with developers from other teams to create modular, extensible solutions (plugins, apps, packages, blocks, and components) for reuse across projects Convert project requirements into proposals for implementation (estimating time/resources, planning tasks/timeline, etc) Platform/multi-site maintenance and optimization for both WordPress and Shopify Code reviews and feedback Mentor junior developers and lead community of practitioners/developers Work planning and issue management Local development environment setup/configuration for both platforms Documentation and coding standards Theme, plugin, and app security Comfortable wearing many hats and willing to work on all parts of the stack You might also know about: Cloud hosting with WP Engine, Pantheon, and/or Shopify hosting solutions JavaScript frameworks and their integration with both platforms Web analytics integration for both WordPress and Shopify sites User experience, information architecture Writing clear and concise documentation Requirements 3-5 years of experience in PHP/WordPress development 3-5 years of experience with Liquid/Shopify development Strong understanding of modern front-end web development techniques, including responsive design and website performance Strong experience using CSS preprocessors like SASS or LESS and bundler/build tools like Webpack Knowledge of modern JavaScript practices Knowledge of SEO/SEM and its impact on web design Strong technical communication and interpersonal skills Experience being a self-starter and a motivated learner Strong experience with Git Actions/workflows Experience writing about technical issues Benefits In office, Hybrid, or WFA (Work from Anywhere) PTO, Sick, Bereavement, and Paid Holidays 401(K) Match Dog-Friendly Office Paid Parental Leave Company Sponsored Social Events Employee Development Program BLKDG
