Job Description

AECOM has an opening for a Structural Engineer to be based in Denver, CO or Columbus, OH.

The Structural Engineer will join a multidisciplinary, collaborative team with a range of expertise supporting the expansion of their knowledge base with the ability to travel and gain field experience.

As part of our team, you will support a diverse tapestry of work across markets like Commercial, Federal (Military/DoD), Healthcare, Higher Education, Sports + Rec and Science + Tech markets, including landmark projects in the industry. Our Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building and system engineering, urbanism, and planning (inclusive of landscape design), strategy +, economics, technology solutions, asset advisory, and cost and program management. Our practice focuses on the Commercial/Corporate, Science and Technology, Higher Education and Federal market sectors. AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineer. This critical role demands a high level of expertise and professionalism in structural engineering. your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

Execute specific and substantial components of complex engineering assignments with precision and attention to detail.

Meticulously gather and correlate essential engineering data using established, well-defined procedures.

Undertake detailed engineering assignments involving intricate calculations and a range of tests, from routine to complex.

Develop innovative approaches to new challenges by modifying standard procedures or leveraging methods from previous assignments.

Critically identify and address discrepancies in results to ensure the highest level of accuracy.

Provide authoritative guidance to entry-level engineers, fostering their professional development.

Demonstrate unwavering commitment to adhering to agreed-upon budgets and schedules with minimal supervision.

Independently execute all necessary tasks to complete primary design elements for engineering works, maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Leverage developmental experience in a professional capacity to deliver exceptional results.

Engage in a diverse array of projects across various industry sectors, including entertainment, commercial, industrial, parking structures, government, and detention facilities.

Collaborate effectively with senior engineers on large-scale projects while taking full responsibility for leading moderately sized structural design projects and tasks.

Daily tasks include:

Conducting rigorous structural analysis and design

Coordinating work meticulously with other design disciplines and preparing comprehensive contract documents

Overseeing construction administration with utmost diligence

Authoring detailed and authoritative structural reports, assessments, and studies

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering from and ABET accredited university, and minimum 4 years of experience in structural design with steel, concrete, and masonry buildings; or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Skills/Experience:

Master of Science (with structural engineering concentration)

Engineer in Training Certification

Demonstrated experience applying all major structural design codes.

Demonstrated experience using 3-D structural analysis software. (examples include ETABS, SAP, RISA, RAM, and SAFE)

Experience designing in Steel, Concrete, Masonry, and Timber (CLT)

Experience with Wind and Seismic lateral design

Excellent written and verbal communication skills,

Demonstrated experience in use of REVIT/AutoCAD to provide production support as a portion of team support and development

Experience with performance-based design

Experience with ASCE 41 for retrofit of existing structures

Additional Information

Hybrid work environment – Fully remote position not available.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $85,000.00 - $115,000.00.
