Job Summary: As a Fire Protection Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our facilities, personnel, and equipment by designing, implementing, and maintaining effective fire protection systems. This role involves collaborating with architects, engineers, and project managers to create safe and compliant building environments. You will be responsible for evaluating fire risks, developing fire suppression systems, and ensuring compliance with relevant fire protection standards and codes. This is a 6 month contract to hire. Responsibilities: System Design and Development Design and develop fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems, fire alarms, smoke control systems, and emergency evacuation plans. Prepare fire protection design documentation, calculations, and specifications. Collaborate with architects and construction teams to integrate fire protection systems into building designs. Risk Assessment and Analysis Conduct fire risk assessments for new and existing facilities. Analyze fire hazards and assess fire safety performance to recommend effective fire protection strategies. Perform modeling and simulations to predict fire spread, smoke movement, and occupant egress. Code Compliance and Regulatory Requirements Ensure that all fire protection systems comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including NFPA, OSHA, and building codes. Stay updated on changes in fire protection standards, codes, and regulations. Work with inspection authorities and regulatory agencies to obtain permits and approvals for fire protection systems. Testing, Inspection, and Maintenance Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of fire protection systems to ensure they meet performance standards. Conduct regular inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems, recommending improvements when necessary. Investigate and troubleshoot issues with fire protection systems, including identifying root causes of system failures. Emergency Planning and Training Develop emergency response plans, fire evacuation procedures, and conduct fire drills. Provide training to employees on fire safety practices, evacuation procedures, and the proper use of fire protection equipment.
