The Position The College seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in Counseling. The ideal candidate will share the College’s commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population. Start date of this assignment: Fall 2025. Duties and Responsibilities Provide comprehensive counseling services to students on a drop-in and appointment basis with flexibility for day, evening, and weekend support Provide group counseling sessions, orientations, workshops, and other activities to support student success Assist students to understand educational and transfer options, clarify educational goals, engage in educational and career planning, participate in the development of student educational plans (SEPs) and course selection Monitor the academic progress, support and advocate for a caseload of student athletes from matriculation to graduation Closely collaborate with coaching staff to support student athlete academic progress management Assist in the planning and development of academic schedules to ensure compliance with California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) requirements Effectively communicate eligibility requirements to student athletes Support in resolving transfer issues related to student athlete eligibility Collaborate effectively with campus and community partners who support student athletes Provide training for faculty and staff on student athlete specific eligibility, compliance, and transfer requirements Assist in developing programs and services that will improve student access to college and increase student retention and completion rates Participate in outreach activities and events in classrooms both on and off-campus Teach counseling courses such as College Success and Career and Personal Development Participate in meetings, conferences, ongoing training, and other professional development activities Minimum Qualifications Master’s or above in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling OR the equivalent College counseling experience Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds of community college students Preferred Qualifications Two or more years serving in an athletic counseling role at the college or university level Knowledge of California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) requirements Recent experience counseling racially minoritized and other disproportionately impacted students Faculty Benefits Benefits include paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.
