Job Description

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for performing day-to-day cost accounting tasks and providing analytical support to ensure accurate cost allocation and performance analysis. The position involves managing standard costing, evaluating production work orders, and supporting management with monthly reporting and inventory reconciliation. This role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and requires close collaboration with Production Management and staff to implement effective solutions and drive operational cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities :

Cost Accounting Functions :

• Manage daily tasks related to cost accounting, including standard cost calculation and cost allocation processes.
• Analyze production work orders for accuracy and evaluate cost performance to improve profitability.

Reporting & Analysis :

• Support management with monthly reporting and analysis of standard costing, production metrics, and inventory reconciliations.
• Prepare detailed cost reports, including work order performance analysis and insights into profitability.

Inventory & Production Costing :

• Perform inventory cost analysis to ensure accurate tracking and valuation.
• Monitor production Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify discrepancies and potential areas for improvement.

Standard Costing System Support :

• Assist in implementing a Standard Costing Management Information System to streamline cost accounting processes.
• Maintain standards for cost tracking and reporting while ensuring compliance with accounting policies.

Collaboration & Problem-Solving :

• Work proactively with Production Management and staff to implement cost-saving solutions and improve operational efficiency.
• Operate independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

Qualifications & Skills :

Experience & Knowledge :

• Proven experience in cost accounting and production cost management.
• Working knowledge of production accounting software and systems.
• Familiarity with standard costing principles and practices.

Technical Skills :

• Strong analytical skills for evaluating inventory costs, work order profitability, and production KPIs.
• Ability to maintain and interpret detailed cost accounting documentation.

Soft Skills :

• High level of integrity, credibility, and commitment to excellence.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.

Educational Background :

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
