The Behavioral Health Technician I position is responsible for providing direct and supportive care to clients/patients. This includes monitoring daily activities, intervening/responding to crises, facilitating group education and structured activities, and transporting clients as needed. Behavioral Health Technicians are responsible for understanding the client's/patient's treatment plan, documenting their behaviors, and providing a safe, therapeutic, and supportive environment. Key responsibilities include active participation as an integral member of the treatment team, program compliance, adherence to medication policies, admission/orientation assistance, client education and support, and transportation assistance. The role requires knowledge of confidentiality laws, communication skills, ability to interpret safety rules, basic math and keyboarding skills, and the ability to establish rapport with clients while maintaining professional boundaries. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent with two years of responsible employment, preferably in Human Services or a related field. Employment requirements include successful background checks, completion of new hire orientation and required training, valid driver's license and insurance, First Aid and CPR certification, medication administration training, behavioral management training, and ongoing training hours. For adolescent programs, additional training on adolescent behavior and related topics is required.
